To meet SEC. 1301.72 in DEA Code of Federal Regulations, VSI offers the U.L.* listed Class M vault panels and vault doors.  The door and frame should conform to 10 man-minutes against forced entry as stated in SEC 1301.72 under the Class M label which carries a UL rating** of 15 minutes. Although these are American specifications for DEA approved vaults, VSI can adhere to any international security codes and specifications. VSI DEA vaults can be found across the US and their international rating equivalent can be found all around the world in countries such as Canada and Australia.

DEA Vault Door Specifications

Class M vault doors also carry the 15 minute rating against forced entry as the modular vault panels required to meet DEA specifications for controlled substance storage. The standard VSI Thor III vault door has a clear opening of 78”H x 37”W and has several standard features such as acrylic day gate, thermostat/alarm kits and emergency ventilator. The vault door can be configured to any size and include an array of additional options, such as a U.L. emergency release, self-locking feature to day gate, and telephone in the door to meet the customer’s needs.

DEA Vault Door Locks

DEA vault door specifications require that the locks on a vault door conform to 20 man hours of lock manipulation, 20 man hours against radiological techniques and are Group 1R locks. The Kaba Mas 252V and the Kaba Max X-10 locks provide the highest security for modular vaults.

**The ratings are in minutes and these are based on actual attack minutes (not including breaks for changing tools, reviewing plans etc.) for a three-man team. The goal is to create a man size opening of 96 square inches opening in, between two vault panels, or at the floor level of a vault. The team uses a prescribed list of tools. The vault panels undergo a U.L. retest every seven years because of the improved tools and methods. The base for the test was the original generic vault in the 70's, which has never been retested.
